Getting Closer to your Mega Project Problem
Problem statement:
Students of Government sector of High Schools in Pakistan lack in language and technology skills. As a result they are not able to grow up in society as compared to private sector. They need to break out of narrow confines and apply broader views.
I during my university education visited some government schools and the conditions were worst. Even they didn’t allow us to enter school.the condition of these schools were so pathetic, even the university’s labour staffs were not willing to send their children to those schools.
primary actions:
I as a chair of Social Humanitarian Society initiated some steps towards this process. We started a volunteer drive in my department to organise engineering projects presentations and programming workshops in these schools. In government sector there is about the capacity of 100 students enrolled in a single class. So mostly students get ignored and chances of lacking in technical skills are higher. So special sessions must be organised for these students to groom their personalities.
finalised steps to be taken:
For parents to admit their children in private sector in Pakistan is becoming impossible. But they have to do it so their children can get professional English language skills. So why not making remedial centres in government sector for weak students where young people can contribute to help these students without charges. we have heard examples of night and road schools, so why not implementing them.
We can inject these technical skills in students:
- We can display our engineering projects to give them ideas about sensors, chips and microcontrollers.
- We can arrange sessions of English language learning.
- We can run a programming language workshop to give them understanding what is a computer language.
- We will arrange sessions to discover their interests like what kind of sports they like and then advice them from which college they can participate.
My Insights:
I completed my high school education from private sector and I got good English language skills. But now when I found school students in a big difficulty to understand government offered course especially from fourth standard, I found guilty because what I have and I learnt they can’t. I asked myself why I deserved while they couldn’t.
